More on my twitter experiment

I got a few "spammer" comments back. Fair enough since I am using a script to find people talking about "cancer". I'm not just looking for experts in cancer, just people who have survived it, or been touched via family. Along the way, I'll retweet stuff. Sometimes its someones own personal fund raising, or interesting news, or something that caught my eye. Here's what has emerged at 2.5 days.

Information on cancer is overwhelming, and its scattered everywhere.
Some people want to remind people they are living with it
Some people just want to remind people they are beating it
Some want to remember people.
Some want to publicly thank the organizations that help

Even pet owners chime in. I was surprised how many people lose their pets to cancer.

Ultimately it would be nice to figure out a way to capture this in an easily digestible way, if only to send them to another groups info.

I will not be casting for donations. That's up to the individuals, although I should put a link on the site that points to someone like the ACS.

I won't create some sort of automated DM.

Thats it. Sorry for those offended, DM me in twitter if you want to be UNFOLLOWED, and I'd be happy to. I know having "CANCER FOLLOWING YOU" might change the tone of your tiwter priflie a bit.

My Twitter Experiment

I have followed about 700 ish people using a script I wrote that searches on the word "cancer". The script finds a bunch, I click follow. The idea is not to spam people.. just following. I figure I can watch the flow of conversation between people talking about cancer, and see how to bring order to the conversation.

Sorry if I followed you and Cancer had nothing to do with your tweet. e.g. "Astrological Sign Cancer: Your horoscope says you will be followed by a stranger"

I read a ton... I try to Retweet interesting stuff. Mostly I retweet the resources and a lot are coming in.. so don't be offended if I don't retweet you. I don't want to automate that too much.

Any Ideas? How do we organize people to fight cancer. Not spam them for donations.. actually use average people's time in a valuable way? Thats what I am trying to figure out.
